What it is
Mind-Body Medicine (MBM) is a combination of approaches that support the connection between mind and body.
My discussion on Ten Rules for Fighting Depression and Building Resilience reflect this philosophy and serve as a guideline for ensuring a sustainable routine of self-care.
I may provide some MBM counseling in terms of helping overcome psychological barriers to good health practices, and provide referrals to other practitioners.
Mind-Body Medicine may include services not provided in counseling but encouraged; yoga, massage therapy, nutrition counseling and fitness training to name a few.
Mind-Body Medicine has applications in weight management, cardiovascular disease, cancer, autoimmune diseases, chronic pain, IBS and many other health concerns.
What I Provide
Diet and Exercise coaching: Help you understand and overcome psychological barriers to goal achievement.
Meditation: In session as needed and agreed upon. May involve use of media and homework practice assignments.
Mindfulness: Incorporates DBT skills to help you improve attention control, emotion regulation and intentionality.
Art exercises: Sometimes the path to understanding involves putting aside the thinking mind and going with the feeling mind. Simple art exercises are designed to help clients access deeper parts of the mind and improve conscious connection to inner dialogue.
